Truck & Auto Repair Shop in Chatham

We had a leaf spring break in the middle of the highway. Their tow truck came and replaced our tire that popped as a result of the leaf spring. They let us stay on their lot, let us use their water for hookups (we live in an RV) and even gave our kids a Halloween treat bag. I can't speak on their prices as I am unfamiliar with these things but they definitely showed us hospitality.

I've utilized the services of Bauer Automotive twice: first for a routine oil change and again for tire replacement and alignment. The work performed in each case was of top quality and the fees charged were fair and reasonable. Brad, who I assume is the owner, is an excellent mechanic who is responsive to calls and inquiries and communicates effectively regarding the scope of work that needs to be completed immediately and also in the future. In both of my visits the stated timelines for repairs were met and price quotations accurate. As someone who genuinely enjoys the experience of driving a nice car (at least at one point, years ago), in the past I would pay the exorbitant dealer maintenance fees for peace of mind that care was taken with my favorite toy. After my experience at Bauer I do not intend to feed the vultures at the dealership ever again--I will be returning to Brad and Bauer for all of my maintenance needs, and you all should do the same!

After a shockingly high and confusing repair estimate from my dealership i decided to go local so i called Bauer Automotive in Chatham. I was initially told by the dealership that I needed a breather cover reseal so i did an internet search and came up with nothing. Bauer diagnosed it as a valve cover gasket- so that's what they meant-Huh! Why not just say that? I guess because they couldn't overcharge for the repair. At that moment i decided to switch repair shops and went with Bauer since they were upfront and honest and gave me great pricing (much better than the dealership). The day of the repair i got a guaranteed estimate in writing and they drove me home and picked me up after the work was done (i live in the neighborhood. Will definitely put their info into my phone for the next time i need car service.

This is the most honest and professional business. My Range Rover needed an oil change and at the dealer they would charge me 4x more than what Bauer charged. Not only that, they encouraged me to first call the dealer and see if the oil change is part of my lease deal before I come to them. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. Fantastic! I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for service to his/her vehicle.

Great service and turnover time. Get towed and repaired by the same company. Labor rate normal for the local area. Give them a try. I'm happy with them.
